Paper instead of Bras!

“I must be an artist!  I just bought a roll of paper instead of a bra!!!” I announced to my parents last Sunday on our weekly phone call…. to which Dad replied “that’s an interesting origami project” Boom Boom as Basil Brush would say!  Dad has always been funny and witty and this idea so tickled me that I’ve just done a search for origami bras and guess what? Of course they exist!

I am moving on in my quest to … to what? not be an artist because I am one (me and my origami bra) … I know, to sell my paintings on line, actually sell paintings full stop.  Mind you I have decided that I need to get my finger out as per my on line presence - haha or lack of it since I’ve taken a couple of months off. So that has meant biting the bullet and working out a social media strategy - on the premise that people can’t buy from me if they don’t know I exist!

I’m going to start in a civilised manner - blogs once a month and instagram and facebook posts once a week  Can you believe it?!!! I only had my back turned for a couple of months and Instagram has gone and changed the shape of their posts!!! Now rectangular instead of square, which, as it turns out is a bit of a bummer for any of my landscape pieces.  They seem to have adapted the square posts and the grid looks OK so I won’t bother going back and resizing the historic posts just got a different set of photos to deal with now.

Aha and I’m going to be experimenting with video too - lol this led to a bit of soul searching on Sunday morning and I wrestled with my reluctance to film and photograph myself and a bit of self talk about whether I should dress up for my videos which actually boiled down to “well at least have a shower Tracy!”     Ahh its that old thing of standards which in the personal grooming stakes I will admit to having let slip a bit….No doubt I’ll have to make the odd (lol very odd) appearance from time to time but I’ll just try and keep it mostly about the paintings.  I’m afraid there won’t be any videos on here though since I think my subscription with Squarespace limits me in the number of videos I can upload - you’ll just have to go to Instagram or Facebook for those.

I’ve also decided that I need to cross reference my other activities in the posts and blogs and stuff for example I might just do a blog about the paintings I’ve got in my holiday cottages that I rent out and the new art studio I’ve put in one of them.

But Hey Ho that’s for another day

Just wondering what to use as a photo for this post - a picture of an origami bra? Pretty sure that’s not why you’re reading this … so here’s an Idea - my own rule to myself is that I have to post on here a photo of a work that I have finished over the last month and it shouldn’t be something featured elsewhere a sort of secret advance showing - sounds like a plan.

So the little month’s find for this blogpost is a watercolour (doh! that’s what I do, watercolours!) landscape inspired by a photo of Applecross in the Scottish Higlands by Joe Hall ( joehallphoto.com instagram: joebhall_) I’ve called it Shangrila because the simplicity of this little cottage out in the middle of nowhere seems at times like an impossible dream whilst I’m battling with my much bigger property and all its foibles.

But Hey Ho that’s for another day too!

With lots of love
