About Tracy
I was warned away from watercolour because it was "too technical" and yet here I am now revelling in glorious anarchy of a load of ground pigment and water. I'm having so much fun - I never want to stop.
Running along parallel to the flowing wonder of watercolour and its "now you control me, now you don't" paradox is the detail I impose with ink. Almost the opposite of the watercolour with its natural tendency for control, and the small repetitive detail of the "tangles"*.
Inspiration comes from beautiful compositions, photographs or places even the materials themselves. It depends on my mood which comes first; the ink or the watercolour, I just watch my art unfold and let the colours play.
I've finally found my medium! I've been creative all my life but have always shied away from "art" making beautiful useful things with some sort of end purpose - now the only purpose is for me to paint so that one of my paintings might "talk" to someone else.
* Zentangle® is a form of meditation through art and the individual designs used in Zentangle are called tangles. What I do is officially called Zentangle Inspired Art although I don't feel that the tangles are inspiring my art.
